"It's a Big Pizza Pie"- A little piece of Italy

Italian food can be so delicious and so cheap which is why it is such a good option to have. Unlike other foods from countries, Italian restaurants are a dime a dozen but this is not a bad thing. Because there is so many Italian restaurants the prices are forced to drop their prices to stay in the competition, but they do not drop their standard while doing this. This means that you can get high quality but cheap Italian food. Anyways moving on to the most obvious type of Italian food we have pizza, which in itself includes a wide array of options. All the different toppings you can get and the different crusts- thin, thick, cheese filled, garlic, and the list goes on- so no matter what you are craving you can most likely fet it on a pizza. My personal favourite would have to be Hawaiian, which some people find disgusting because who puts pineapple on a pizza? But i find it so yummy.

Another world famous Italian dish is simply pasta, no matter what sauce pasta will always be seen as Italian. It is such an easy meal to create but it is so good that you can impress anyone. It is the perfect meal to eat in college when you need to eat on a budget, and it can be made to anyones requirements, healthy, creamy, plain...you can put almost anything in a pasta dish! They eat pasta because pasta is made using a certain kind of dough that has durum wheat which Italy imports alot. Most of the wheat they imort is used for pasta since it is so largely eaten.

Eating Thai Food

I don't even know where to start writing this blog post because Thai food is like a little piece of heaven on earth for me. I even remember the first time I had this delicious food, it was in a small run down restaurant that mainly did take away. I was at a play with my friend and her parents took us out after for dinner and the rest is history! Or maybe not, as I still love to go to that restaurant. Normally in restaurants the struggle for me is trying to pick what food i would like, but in the Thai restaurant its trying to find the ones I don't. The list is very limited. I have to say the dish that I order most regularly would probably be the Thai chicken red curry, so I guess I could consider this to be my favourite. Another favourite that i founf in Miami was papaya salad. Unfortunatley they do not serve this in my regular Thai restaurant so I had to resort to making it myself! Yet another favourite that I discovered one night when I forced myself to eat something new was Thai beef salad. It sounds quite contradictory- in my mind anyway- but oh my god was it delecious. In do not know how they do but the Thai people seem to get it right everytime!

Its all Greek to me

I would have to say that Greek food is one of my favorite types of food, and I only recently discovered it. Before I went to Greece this summer the only Greek food i had had before was an occasional Greek salad at my friends house, which I would constantly beg for whenever I visited- not very good manners for a guest but hey, it was too delicious to mind!

This summer as I sailed around Greece, a place that has been on the top of my want to visit places for some years now, I was lucky enough to enjoy some of the mouth watering cuisine. My personal favorite at the end was still the good 'ol Greek salad though!
Another new favorite I had was tzatziki which is a yogurt and cucumber dish that is served as an appetizer. It is the perfect way to start a meal as it is cold and refreshing yet so delicious, you would want to eat the whole platter, which is meant to be for the table! I have to admit I may have done this once or twice...

Moussaka is a dish that is considered to be famous from Greece and delicious however it was not a particular favorite of mine but that may be due to the fact that i hate eggplant, a main ingredient in moussaka.
I am sure there are so many other delicious Greek dishes that I have yet to try or that may have slipped my memory, so I would say it is my duty to go out and try more!

Wholesome Ireland

"Wholesome" may not be the first adjective when people think of Ireland, especially as the most common stereo-type is that Irish people are drunk all the time- that all they do is drink. This is most definitely not true, while some may enjoy a pint of Guinness with there meal they are not drunks, just as the fact that they are leprechauns is not true.
The most common food type associated with the Irish would obviously be potatoes, and this is a stereotype that is true, the "traditional" Irish families would have some form of potatoes with tea (dinner) every night. However it is not a necessity with every meal.
Another common meal associated to Ireland would be the traditional Irish breakfasts, which includes sausages, rashers (bacon), eggs, beans, fried/baked tomatoes, black or white pudding, and of course fried potatoes.
Irish stew is yet another well known dish from Ireland, that is of course implied in the name! Many adaptions have been made to the recipes but the most traditional recipe includes potatoes, onion water or vegtable stock and lamb. Lamb was the choice of meat as it was raised more frequently, so easier and cheaper the acquire.

I feel like this blog has been more informative then fun, like I am the teacher rather then the student. So my next blog most will be about more of the fun side of food, because that is how everything to do with food should be! Here is a picture of delecious food to make the blog more fun and to make you hungrier :)

Food from the turkoise waters...

I decided to make my first blog post about food from the place I grew up- Turks and Caicos Islands. This is a small country in the Caribbeam, it is not very well known but is a beautiful place to visit.
However I am not here to talk to you about the place but the food. Seeing as the country is surronded by sea the main food eaten is seafood. We are most famous for our conch, a shellfish only found here and in the Bahamas. This can be ccoked in many different ways and there are even whole retaurants dedicated to it. The most famous ways of cooking this would either be conch fritters or conch salad, very popular amongst both the locals and the tourists.

Other foods that are served in most restaurants are baked maccoroni and chhese- something that doesnt sound like anything special but is actually delecious- peas and rice is a local favourite aswell as it is easy to make yet tasets delecious served with your favourite fried fish.
Those are the most famous and most delecious foods from TCI, I hope you enjoyed reading this, and maybe you will try some of these meals one day!
